Port of Nigg is proud to support the ‘Don’t Rubbish Ross-Shire’ campaign, an initiative led by Joanie Whiteford, Lord Lieutenant of Ross and Cromarty, to tackle littering and protect the local environment.
As part of our commitment to the communities surrounding the Cromarty Firth, Global Energy Group has provided funding for roadside banners to raise awareness of the roadside litter awareness campaign. Additionally, the initiative has been highlighted during our quarterly community liaison meetings and included within safety briefings with staff and tenants onsite, reinforcing the importance of responsible litter and waste disposal.
The ‘Don’t Rubbish Ross-Shire’ campaign has gained significant local backing, with support from Highland Council, elected councillors, and media partners. The campaign aims to address the growing problem of roadside litter, which threatens the natural beauty of the region. Local volunteers have already taken action, with teams from Fearn, Arabella, Nigg and Tain recently collecting a significant amount of rubbish from roadsides.
Rory Gunn, Facilities Director at Port of Nigg, emphasised the importance of supporting the initiative:
“As a key part of the Ross-Shire community, we recognise our responsibility to help protect the local environment. The ‘Don’t Rubbish Ross-Shire’ campaign aligns with our values of sustainability and community engagement, and we are pleased to contribute to its growth and success. Raising awareness is crucial in changing behaviours, and we encourage everyone to take pride in keeping our surroundings clean.”
Port of Nigg remains committed to maintaining high environmental standards and will continue to support initiatives that contribute to a cleaner and greener future for the region.
