The Port of Nigg is delighted to announce a £1,000 donation to the Cromarty Youth Café, supporting the delivery of their programme of free activities for young people aged 5-25. The funding will provide a much-needed boost to the Youth Café’s services, which focus on supporting vulnerable residents in Cromarty through intergenerational activities and community engagement.
The Cromarty Youth Café works in partnership with partners such as the NHS, social work, Cromarty Primary, and Fortrose Academy, enabling them to reach individuals throughout the area. Their programmes aim to build resilience, raise self-esteem, and promote healthy living. By working with local instructors wherever possible, they introduce young people to the fantastic opportunities available in their own community.
The £1,000 donation from the Port of Nigg, will go toward initiatives like holiday programs, indoor and outdoor activities, cooking sessions, and intergenerational events. These activities not only engage young people but also bring the wider community together to combat loneliness and isolation.
Fraser Thomson, Assistant Youth Worker at the Cromarty Youth Café, expressed his gratitude: "We at Cromarty Youth Café are absolutely delighted and thankful to share the news that we have been awarded £1,000 from the Port of Nigg, which will support and benefit the Youth Café. This will help us provide a diverse range of opportunities, such as holiday programmes, intergenerational games, coffee mornings, and lunches for our community - all offered for free. Our young people are looking forward to a summer of fun while gaining valuable life skills.”
Rory Gunn, Facilities Director at the Port of Nigg, commented: "We are proud to support the Cromarty Youth Café. Their commitment to building resilience and creating opportunities for young people aligns with our own values of supporting local communities. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this funding will have on Cromarty's young people."
